Simon Cowell was born on October 7, 1959, in London, England.
Cowell started his career in the music industry working in the mailroom at EMI Music Publishing.
He managed to earn a position as an assistant to an A&R executive at EMI in 1979, where he was promoted and given the job of talent scout.
Cowell left EMI during the early 1980s to form E&S Music with his boss at EMI, Ellis Rich.
“It’s only because I opened my big mouth and said we were going to get 20 million [viewers],” Simon told Extra about the changes. “I would’ve liked to have kept [Paula],” Simon said.
“She was very gracious, and I said that to her.” And how is Nicole handling the slight?
Paula Julie Abdul (born June 19, 1962) is an American singer-songwriter, dancer, choreographer, actress, and television personality who worked with Simon Cowell for eight seasons(2002-2009) on American Idol and for one season (2011) of the American version of the X-Factor.
But the SYCO label head walked away from Idol in 2010, and by the time it wrapped its final season this year, Cowell was no longer even a viewer. The first three or four years were genuinely probably the best three or four years of my life,” he said. I wasn’t aware the market had gone down to that level so quickly. And just because Cowell’s settling into a new judges’ chair doesn’t mean he’s not hatching a plan for the next big thing in competitive TV.
Rumors of new judges include the Queen of Pop, Madonna, and new mother Beyonce.
While there were so many great moments from the epic sendoff, one of our favorites HAD to be Simon Cowell making a surprise appearance and reuniting with his former fellow judges Paula Abdul and Randy Jackson — and of course host Ryan Seacrest!
Born in San Fernando, California, Abdul started taking dance lessons at a young age.
One of her early dance inspriations was the legendary actor/dancer Gene Kelly.
